The general purpose of the group is to explore systematically the evolution of what makes us human, and furthermore, of what makes us so distinctively different from other primates.

In order to accomplish this, the group uses neuroimaging techniques, as well as psychophysiological methodologies and experimental behavioral methods. It also deepens in the theoretical reflexion and analysis of the evolutionary "reasons" behind the evolution of behaviors such as language, morality and aesthetics.
